Hardware Integration: Client needs to take a user’s picture when printing user ID cards and automatically embed that within a web-based application.

Technical Solution:

Designed a Java applet that loaded the required drivers to communicate with the webcam and displayed it as a viewport within the web application. When the operator is satisfied, they click on a button to take a picture which automatically encodes the picture and sends it to the database without having to manually browse the file system, locate the new file, then upload it.
